Luca Marconato, based in Rome, is an italian director, filmaker, professional musician, (lute player & film music composer). 

After a long and ongoing musical career that has led him to perform at major international festivals, he has developed a special sensitivity towards image in all its forms.

This gave rise to his brilliant debut as a film director in the music, commercial and television industry.


Today he is recognized as one of most innovative talents in the creation of commercial and communication videos.


Thanks to the originality of his own style that embraces the elaboration of a concept to the more technical aspects, he is regularly engaged by productions and communication agencies to direct docu-films, commercials, concerts, tv realities, music-videos, documentaries and epk.

Last 3 years he was one of the directors for the tv reality Grande Fratello Vip (Big Brother) produced by EndemolShine Italy.

Ho concluso lo scorso anno, che fu denso di belle e sorprendenti edizioni discografiche, con un simbolico regalo ai miei lettori: due affascinanti video-clips di Luca Marconato. Luca è liutista (e chitarrista barocco) ed alterna alla sua attività concertistica quella di regista di piccoli – nel senso della durata – capolavori in cui le immagini si associano alla musica per illustrare il lavoro, le creazioni, di un solista o di un ensemble, inserendoli in una storia, in una messa in scena che ce li rendono ancora più vicini, socchiudendo per un momento le magiche porte dell’intimità di un’interpretazione musicale.

Non vedo, quindi, miglior modo di iniziare la mia rubrica per un 2019 che mi auguro ancor più ricco musicalmente, e sorprendente, che un video di Luca che annuncia la pubblicazione di un nuovo cd di Anna Schivazappa con il suo ensemblePizzicar Galante.

MUSIC

Graduated in lute at the Conservatory of music "Santa Cecilia" of Rome, he performed to the most prestigious international festivals in Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Scotland, Belgium, Poland, Ukraine, USA, Iran, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macao, playing as a soloist or as a freelance for several ensembles.

He regularly holds masterclasses of lute, theorbo, baroque guitar and basso continuo, in conservatories and universities.

In 2019 he took part at the China Tour with the Silkroad Ensemble and Wu Man (pipa player).

He has recorded for many music labels as Naive - Opus 111, Brilliant Classic, CPO, Christophorus - Glossa, Tactus, WDR3, Diapason, Domani Musica, Arcophon - Rivoalto - Pirelli Re, Bongiovanni, Espace 2 (Swiss radio), ORF (Austrian Radio), RAI Radio 3, BBC,  RAI2, Vatican Radio, and the Musicology Department of the University "La Sapienza" in Rome.
